Your Friendly Developer ยท Version 0.3.0 beta

Your guides stay in this browser unless you export and share them. This beta has been tested with made-up information. Do not record real customer information in this release.

What the extension saves

When you choose Start or Continue, the extension records visible screenshots, click/change event metadata, step order and the website origin. It also stores guide titles, instructions, image descriptions, folders, favorites and pictures you import. This information is used to make, edit, organize and export your guides.

Drafts and pictures use local browser storage and IndexedDB. Recording preferences and recent recording state also use Chrome extension storage. There is no Guide Workspace account, cloud synchronization, analytics, advertising or payment connection in this version.

What screenshots can reveal

The recorder avoids saving typed field values, keystroke streams, page HTML or full URL paths, query strings and fragments in event metadata. It masks input fields and pauses when a mask failure is detected. Other visible text, images and page content may still contain private information. Review every screenshot before sharing. Masking is not a promise that every kind of webpage is safe.

Where the information goes

The extension does not upload your guides to Your Friendly Developer or sell their contents. It does not send browsing data for advertising, credit decisions or unrelated purposes. Data handled by the extension is used only for its guide-making features. Your normal browser, website and operating-system network activity is separate.

Guide Workspace's use of information accessed through Chrome APIs follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

HTML, .guide and PDF/print copies are files you choose to create. You control where they go. Anyone you give a copy to can keep it. Changing or deleting the original cannot recall an exported copy.

Keeping and deleting guides

Guides remain locally until you delete them or clear the extension's data. Delete guide removes its application records and stored pictures. Permanent picture covers and markers replace the old image in application storage. There is no application undo to recover the replaced image.

This is not forensic disk erasure. Browser or operating-system backups and exported files may remain. Local drafts and exports are not protected by an application password or application-managed encryption. Use a protected computer and avoid sensitive information. Back up guides before uninstalling, clearing browser data or switching extension installations.

Support email

If you email guides@yourfriendlydeveloper.com, your email address and message are processed in our Migadu-hosted mailbox to answer your request. Do not send passwords, customer information or unredacted screenshots. This email is separate from extension storage. No automatic guide upload occurs.

You may request removal of support correspondence by email. Support correspondence is kept while needed to handle the request; provider backups or legal retention obligations may limit immediate removal. No automatic deletion deadline is promised.

Changes

New account, payment or cloud features would require an updated notice describing their actual data handling before activation.
