Guidde alternative: Guide Workspace vs Guidde
By Jason Ramirez, Your Friendly Developer. Published November 5, 2026. Updated November 5, 2026.
The fast answer
Start with the format, because these two tools do not make the same thing. Guidde turns a capture into an AI-narrated video, and it is genuinely good at it. Guide Workspace makes a written step-by-step guide with screenshots — searchable, printable, and yours as a file. If the written guide is what you need, Guide Workspace does it free and locally, with redaction baked into the exports and no account. Guidde's free plan caps you at 25 watermarked videos, and file downloads, watermark removal and blur start on Pro at $19 per creator per month billed annually. One hard limit on our side: Guide Workspace is a beta for practice workflows, training material and SOP drafts — not live customer data.
What each tool is, and is not
Guide Workspace is a free Chrome extension that records your clicks on a supported web page and turns them into a step-by-step guide with screenshots you can edit, redact and export. Guides live in your browser profile. It is not a video tool, not a team platform, it has no cloud sync and no AI narration, and it only works on web pages in Chrome.
Guidde is a commercial AI documentation platform. It captures a workflow and produces a narrated video guide with AI voiceover, captions and a written step view, hosted in a cloud workspace with brand kits and, on higher plans, analytics. It is not a file-first tool: its free plan shares by link with a watermark, and downloading your guides as files is a paid feature.
How this comparison was made
- Prices: read from Guidde's public pricing page on November 5, 2026. USD, per creator; annual and monthly figures shown where Guidde offers both. Prices can change.
- Feature placement: Guidde's own plan cards and comparison table on the same page: watermark removal, file export and blur appear from Pro; desktop capture and analytics from Business; Magic Redaction under Enterprise.
- Viewer policy: from Guidde's own FAQ on that page — viewers do not consume paid seats; only admins, content managers and creators do.
- Guide Workspace facts: from its Chrome Web Store listing (public November 4, 2026, version 0.4.0) and its own help page, written by the developer.
- Field counts: the figures about the 43 listed alternatives come from the Scribe alternatives list on AlternativeTo, reviewed November 4, 2026; pricing model, redaction and export placement were checked on each tool's public pages where published.
- Not tested: no speed, narration-quality or capture-quality benchmarks are claimed for either product. This is a price, limits and format comparison, not a lab test.

How rare is this combination?
Guidde is not the only comparison that matters. Of the 43 tools listed as Scribe alternatives on AlternativeTo, checked November 4, 2026, about 29 are cloud subscriptions that charge per seat or per creator. Only 8 keep everything local with no account, and only about 5 include redaction free and about 5 include full exports free. A few other tools are local too, and this page does not claim otherwise. The point is the combination: local, no account, redaction baked in, and full exports free, all in one Chrome extension. Nearly every other guide tool gives up at least one leg of the four.
Guide Workspace is best for written guides you keep as files
Best for a solo operator, trainer or consultant who needs written step-by-step guides with screenshots they can redact, print and file — and who refuses a per-creator bill for file exports. Not for video, not for teams, not for desktop apps, and not for live customer data while it is in beta.
Guidde is best for narrated video how-tos
Best for training and support teams whose audience would rather watch than read: AI voiceover in hundreds of voices, captions, translations and analytics, with viewers free on every plan. Not for file-first work on a budget — its free plan watermarks videos and does not download files.
The worked example: one year, real prices
Take a solo trainer who needs to blur screenshots and download finished guides as files — the two features that push Guidde users onto a paid plan. On Guidde Pro billed annually that is $19 per month: $228 for year one. On Guide Workspace it is $0, because redaction and exports are in the free extension. Planned Pro is $59 one time, if it launches at all.
Five creators on Guidde Pro billed annually pay 5 × $19 × 12 = $1,140 for year one. That buys AI narration, a shared workspace and brand kits — real capabilities Guide Workspace does not have. If your audience watches instead of reads, the money is buying the right format. If they read, it is a per-creator subscription for features you already have free.
The exports pledge, in writing
Full exports are free, and they stay free. The self-contained HTML export, print to PDF and the editable .guide backup are in the free extension, and they will never move behind a paywall, never gain a watermark to pay to remove, and never be replaced by a hosted link that stops working when you stop paying. Your exported files live on your device, not on our server — there is no server.
This pledge exists because watermarked free tiers and download paywalls are standard practice in this category: people pay for a plan just to get their own guides out as files. A guide you made should be a file you own.
“But people would rather watch a video”
Often, yes — and Guidde's AI narration is a genuine strength we will not pretend away. Guide Workspace makes written guides only, because written guides do different work: they are searchable, printable, cheap to correct one step at a time, and readable in places video cannot go. The honest way to choose is by deliverable. If the deliverable is a video, choose Guidde. If it is a document, a per-creator video subscription is paying for the wrong format.
On the beta concern: you are right to be careful, and we will not talk you out of it. Guide Workspace was tested with made-up information. Use it with sample data, check every picture, and cover anything private before sharing. If a workflow involves real customer records, it does not belong in this beta.
Guide Workspace Pro: $59 one time, only if enough people want it
Pro would add power features for weekly guide builders. It will never gate exports: full local exports stay free either way. Join the waitlist to be counted and to get one email if Pro launches.
How to choose
- You need written guides as files, with redaction free: install Guide Workspace free and draft your guides locally.
- Your workplace bans cloud capture tools: Guide Workspace has no account and no server, so nothing is uploaded for a policy to block, and your library and exports keep working offline.
- You need narrated video, voiceover or translation: Guidde is built for that; budget $19 per creator per month on Pro annual billing, or $39 on Business for desktop capture and analytics.
- Your team shares a workspace but viewers should be free: Guidde charges only for creators, admins and content managers — a fair policy worth crediting.
- You handle real customer data: use neither this beta nor any tool without checking its data handling; Guide Workspace's beta is for practice data.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free Guidde alternative?
Yes, for written guides. Guide Workspace is a free Chrome extension that records step-by-step guides with screenshots, including redaction and exports at no cost. It does not make videos — if you need narrated video, Guidde is the tool.
How much does Guidde cost?
Checked November 5, 2026: Pro is $19 per creator per month billed annually ($29 monthly), and Business is $39 billed annually ($59 monthly) for up to 5 creators. The free plan includes up to 25 videos. Guide Workspace charges nothing; its planned Pro is a single $59 one-time payment.
Can I download a Guidde video or PDF on the free plan?
No. Downloading MP4, GIF, PPT or PDF files starts at Pro, and free-plan videos carry a watermark shared by link. Guide Workspace includes HTML export, print to PDF and an editable .guide backup in the free extension, with no watermark.
Does Guidde charge for viewers?
No. Guidde's own FAQ says only admins, content managers and creators consume paid seats, and viewers can be added at no extra cost. It is one of the fairer policies in this category, and this page credits it.
Is redaction free in Guidde?

Is Guide Workspace ready for real customer data?
No. It is a public beta tested with made-up information. Use it for practice workflows, training material and SOP drafts, check every picture, and cover anything private before sharing an export.
